There is a big hard back book which I have owned for some time called “Capital in the Twenty-First Century” by Thomas Piketty. The book has 685 pages, I confess I have read very few of these pages, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Technology comes to the rescue, there are many interviews on Youtube featuring the still young author. If like me you think the free market economic system is creating problems which will erupt in our children and grandchildren’s life-time, you could  start here:

A phrase which sticks in my mind is, ‘tax the rich’, there is an answer.



I have been a teacher and a lecturer for a number of years. I am married with two sons. I'm interested drama, films, TV, books, society in general, poverty and riches and political systems.


  1. The young man has some good ideas. He is a wonderful egalitarian, fair and decent. Alas, three parts of our planet is again at war. Those who have a place to go, far away from the war, has the money to do so. Those with very little left of anything, must stay where they are. There is no money left for them to worry about. Instead they worry about their family and if there is to be another tomorrow. jollyweez.

    1. Thank you jollyweez, there is so much about our modern world which makes us think we are moving away from the peaceful harmonious world we would like to live in. We can only hope that kindness and generosity will show us how to accept our differences.
